Rehabilitation Project

Supporting Local Communities Since 1994

Greater Chicagoland Fellowship is a IRS registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in West Chicago, IL. Initially founded in 1994 as an alumni club for people recovering from the disease of addiction. The organization, at that time, served the Recovering Community by means of providing activities such as support group meetings, sober social functions, including dances, parties, picnics, softball and bowling leagues to name a few. In 2001, David Pokorny, President of the organization had introduced the organization to HUD to find a means of additional funding to keep the organization going due to lack of available funds. The organization became a HUD Approved Non-Profit Organization in 2001 with an added mission to provide Affordable Housing and Housing Counseling for people in the recovering community and individuals and families that meet the low to moderate income requirements. Please note, if you have a sober group looking to be sponsored for any of the above activities, please contact us below to discuss your intentions and we will be glad to try and help.

The Story Behind The Affordable Housing And Construction Rehab Program Services.

David Pokorny, the President/Executive Director of Greater Chicagoland Fellowship since 2001, is an Illinois Licensed Real Estate Managing Broker, FHA 203K Construction Consultant, FHA Fee Panel Inspector, Construction Manager and a retired Illinois Licensed Home Inspector.

David Pokorny introduced the organization to the Chicago and Atlanta HUD offices and discussed the organization’s financial situation to further our program needs and help support our other programs. Consequently, Greater Chicagoland Fellowship became a HUD-approved housing provider/developer in 2001 and continues to provide affordable housing and housing education for low to moderate income individuals and families. We have had the opportunity under the HUD Affordable Housing Program and other Housing Programs to financially support our non-profit organization’s other programs. It enabled the organization to purchase, rehabilitate, sell and provide housing counseling to over 500+ individuals and families.
